HORSE SHOWS THROUGHOUT NORTH AMERICA TO HOLD QUALIFYING CLASSES FOR 2001 WIHS CHILDREN'S & ADULT CHAMPIONSHIPS
Washington, DC – The Washington International Horse Show (WIHS) has announced that qualifying for the 2001 WIHS Children’s & Adult Hunter and Jumper Championships will be based on points accumulated at qualifying classes held at horse shows throughout North America. The top 30 horse/rider combinations, based on these qualifying classes, will be invited to compete in the Championships to be held during the 2001 WIHS, October 23 – 28 at the MCI Center in Washington, D.C.
The WIHS Children’s & Adult Championships will offer a total of $40,000 in prize money, with $10,000 awarded in each of the following:
- WIHS Children’s Hunter Championship
- WIHS Adult Hunter Championship
- WIHS Children’s Jumper Championship
- WIHS Adult Jumper Championship
The qualifying period for the 2001 WIHS Children’s & Adult Championships includes classes held at shows commencing on or after September 18, 2000 through shows commencing on or before August 24, 2001.
"The WIHS Children’s and Adult Hunter and Jumper Championships are a great opportunity for amateur horse and rider combinations to qualify to compete at Washington. We have contacted horse show managers and there are already a large number of WIHS Children’s and Adult Qualifying Classes scheduled at shows around the country," said Jorge Carnicero, President of the Washington International Horse Show.
