Soil Conservation District
Soil Conservation Districts' mix of Maryland Department of Agriculture and county staff work with farmers and livestock owners on land management assistance similar to the NRCS, including pasture, manure and mud management as well as stream restoration projects. SCDs offer free advice and technical assistance to help control or prevent soil erosion and can design stream crossings, manure storage structures, and runoff diversions. The NRCS will be able to tell you the name, location and phone number of your Soil Conservation District. They are also listed in the county section of your phone book's blue pages.
