Days End Farm Horse Rescue Save Our Seniors (S.O.S.) Campaign
Of course, there are those horses that have not been adopted, and may never be, but will always have a home at DEFHR for the rest of their lives. They are either the geriatric residents or those with medical conditions that make their adoption almost prohibitive. Many of these horses have special needs, including expensive medication or multiple daily feedings – needs that require money and time. To address these needs, DEFHR has developed S.O.S., which incorporates two programs: TLC/Assisted Living and TLC/Home Care Provider. The TLC/Assisted Living Program involves the participant caring for the horse at “satellite facilities,” which would require that the individual be skilled and knowlegeable in horse care, and be able to administer medications and multiple feedings daily. The participant is required to maintain an expense account on the cost of caring for the particular horse, which would be tax deductible. The TLC/Home Care Provider Program requires participants to fund the costs of medication, medical care, housing, and/or multiple feedings. Participants will be billed on a monthly basis, but these funds would also be tax-deductible. Participants are welcome to visit the horse on a regular basis to provide extra love and attention.
