WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW CONTINUES CHARITABLE SUPPORT
$25,000 DONATION TO PARTNERS IN EDUCATION
Washington, DC – On Tuesday, March 6, 2001, the Washington International Horse Show (WIHS) presented Partners in Education with a check for $25,000 - one of the largest contributions the organization has received. Wyatt A. Stewart III, Vice President of the WIHS, made the check presentation to Bo Jones, Publisher and CEO of the Washington Post, and Margaret Kaplow, Manager for Education Sales and Services.
“The Washington International Horse Show is proud to support Partners in Education, especially through their Newspapers in Education program– a highly-active organization that encourages student interest in both reading and current events. We are thrilled to able to give back the success of our 2000 horse show to the local community, and our aim is to continue raising the amount of charitable donations each year,” said Wyatt A. Stewart III.
Newspapers in Education will use these funds to distribute 192,000 Washington Post newspapers daily to over 300 schools in the 17 county primary market area in and around metropolitan Washington, DC. The Washington Post produces a teaching curriculum, provides teacher training, and conducts student workshops in the classrooms - making it easy to implement the newspapers in the classroom as a regular resource.
One of the most prestigious international equestrian events in the world, the WIHS is a non-profit organization with a long history of support for active and worthy charitable organizations.
The 43rd annual Washington International Horse Show will take place October 23 – 28, 2001 at the MCI Center in Washington, DC. The annual event provides thrilling family entertainment, international Olympic-caliber show jumping competitions, the breath-taking Puissance “horse high jump” class, Jack Russell terrier races, barrel racing, and much more. Tickets go on sale in August and can be purchased through Ticketmaster at 202-432-SEAT. For more information about the Washington International Horse Show, visit www.wihs.org.
